Dina Boluarte officially becomes President of Peru

Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra was on Wednesday afternoon officially named President of the Republic of Peru for the remainder of the 2021-2026 term.

Thus, she replaces ex-President Jose Pedro Castillo Terrones, who earlier today was constitutionally impeached and removed from office by Parliament.

It should be noted that Mrs. Boluarte previously served as Vice-President of the Republic.

She is the first woman to become President of the Republic of Peru.

Held at Congress headquarters in Lima, the inauguration ceremony was led by Congress Chairman Jose Williams Zapata.

The event was attended by dignitaries from State powers.
