The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday affirmed that her administration listens to the people. Therefore, it submitted a bill to Parliament to bring the elections forward to April 2024, since this deadline allows time for carrying out political reforms and holding suitable elections.

"Congress has already said in a first voting (session) it agrees. We hope that these early elections proposal will be ratified in the second voting (session)," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

The Head of State indicated that she is taking up duties responsibly until said term, once again explaining that she had nothing to do with the events that led ex-President Pedro Castillo to attempt a coup d'état when he was in office.

"Now I am here, and I want to be calm and at peace to seek the development of the country," she underlined.

Mrs. Boluarte arrived in Peru's southern Cusco region this morning where she met with the journalists' guild from this area.
