Judge Checkley determined that there is no flight risk or procedural danger in the case of Anibal Torres.
The Prosecutor's Office requested 18 months of pre-trial detention against Pedro Castillo and Anibal Torres to ensure the presence of the accused during this stage, the intermediate stage, and the trial.
After the judicial resolution was read, the Prosecutor’s Office appealed Judge Checkley's decision, to the extent that it imposed a restricted summons for Anibal Torres and insisted on the pre-trial detention requirement.
Meanwhile, the defense of Castillo appealed the 18-month pre-trial detention order.
The Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court, chaired by Judge Cesar San Martin, will review the appeal of the ex-President and that of the Prosecutor's Office, which insists on the pre-trial detention requirement for the ex-head of the Ministerial Cabinet.
