The
on Friday affirmed from Cusco that she and Executive Branch members will continue to travel across Peru to achieve development and peace in the homeland.
Prior to that statement, the top official deplored the violence which occurred during the
protests that arose in said context.
"When did I say that we are going to turn our backs on people's needs? When did I say that I do not want to work hand-in-hand with you? Quite the contrary, here I am, and we will continue to travel across the country, but we must seek to live in peace with one another and seek the homeland's development," she expressed.
In this sense,
President Boluarte stated that she wishes to meet with the leaders of those who, with fair reason, have come out to protest over unmet needs.
Similarly, the Head of State indicated that she wants to work hand-in-hand with them.
After expressing her sorrow for the
deaths that occurred during these events, the top official reminded citizens that those who protest have the right to do so but cannot take over the streets, since blockades affect the rights of others to free movement and work.
Furthermore, Mrs. Boluarte asked Puno region's population not to be carried away by violence and to ignore "separatist messages" that come from the outside. Instead, she called on them to build a united homeland.
"Hunger has no political color; poverty has no ideology. I am a woman from the left, indeed. However, I am the President of 33 million Peruvians, and all of us must work (together) to move our country forward," she stated.
