Peru PM: 2020 Budget doubles commitment to assisting forgotten sectors

Prime Minister Salvador del Solar has affirmed the Budget for 2020 Bill doubles the Peruvian Government's commitment to attending to the sectors or activities that had historically been left behind.

According to the high-ranking official, assistance to the above-mentioned segments —High-Andean and Amazonian areas— was included in the 2019 budget bill, and it will be strengthened. 


Furthermore, the cabinet chief indicated the budget includes assisting small-scale agricultural producers.

He went on to add the fight against violence against women will be reinforced. 

Similarly, Del Solar underlined the budget's look towards the future, as well as its commitment to health and education

The Prime Minister also recalled the bill has taken into account security and investments in sectors such as justice, taking into account they must be institutionally strengthened.


Finally, he pointed out the 2020 budget is based on the respect for  macroeconomic stability, commitment to forgotten sectors, and the look towards the future with the aim of closing the competitiveness gap.

As is known, the Executive Branch submitted the 2020 Budget Bill to Congress, which amounts to S/177.367 billion (around US$52.320 billion), a nominal increase of 5.53% compared to the previous one.
