Peru expresses support for Venezuela Interim President, rejects Maduro's measures

17:29 | Lima, Mar. 28.

Foreign Affairs Minister Nestor Popolizio on Thursday affirmed Peru supports Venezuela's Interim President Juan Guaido, after the Bolivarian nation's State Comptroller decided to bar him from holding public office for 15 years.

"Peru rejects the decision made by the Comptroller General of the illegitimate and dictatorial Maduro regime that intends to bar Interim President Juan Guaido, to whom we reaffirm all our support and solidarity," Popolizio posted on Twitter.

According to State Comptroller Elvis Amoroso, Guaido "allegedly" "hid or faked information" regarding his sworn declaration of assets. He also "allegedly" "received funds" from international and national organizations without clarification.

Peruvian measures

Thus, Peru banned the entry of Maduro and 99 members of his regime —including their relatives— to its territory.
