The Peruvian Government on Wednesday recognized Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido as Interim President of the Bolivarian nation.
Earlier today, the politician assumed the powers of the presidency after thousands of protesters marched against Nicolas Maduro's new term in office.
Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry also expressed its support for the National Assembly chairman, who has assumed the post of Interim President in response to
Maduro's illegitimate regime.
According to Guaido, this takes place within the framework of the fight against the usurpation of power in Venezuela.
It should be noted U.S. President Donald Trump announced he has officially recognized Guaido as the Interim President of the Bolivarian nation.
Likewise, other countries have shown support for Guaido, such as Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, and Paraguay through the Lima Group.
