President Vizcarra: Peru wishes for return of democracy to Venezuela

President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday reaffirmed Peru wishes for Venezuela to return to democracy and hoped for its population to accomplish that goal as soon as possible.

"We have always said this. Venezuela's situation worries us (…)," the Head of State expressed.

As is known, a group of Venezuelan soldiers rose up against Nicolas Maduro earlier today and in support of opposition leader Juan Guaido, who called for a military uprising.

Likewise, the top official recalled his administration has undertaken efforts to support the Bolivarian nation's fight for the restoration of democracy.

Within this framework, he mentioned the decision not to recognize Maduro's regime as legitimate and —instead— support Juan Guaido as Venezuela's Interim President.

Furthermore, the statesman indicated it is necessary for Venezuelan citizens to make the best decision to alleviate the suffering of millions of families that do not have other choice but to leave their country in order to seek for better opportunities.
