The Government of Peru on Tuesday expressed its full support for
Venezuelan Interim President Juan Guaido and his
efforts to restore democracy in his country.
In a statement released after a group of Venezuelan soldiers rose up against Nicolas Maduro, Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry stressed that
his usurping and dictatorial regime must come to an end.
Likewise, the ministry affirmed that Peru and the
Lima Group closely monitor the situation in the Bolivarian country, with a view to convening an emergency meeting.
On Tuesday, a group of Venezuelan soldiers rose up against Nicolas Maduro and in support of opposition leader Juan Guaido, who called for a military uprising.
The Maduro administration is denouncing an attempted coup d'etat in the country.
