The
President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday led a ceremony in which she distinguished nine people with an outstanding career in the field of Andean music as Meritorious Figures in Peruvian Culture.
Moreover, the Head of State highlighted the role that this artistic expression has played in the life of a large group of the Peruvian population.
The country's top official stressed the value of Ayacucho music, as well as the skills of those who perform the Scissors Dance and the music that accompanies it.
"We carry that Andean culture in our veins and soul," she said, also noting the values of expressions of the coast and jungle.
In this regard, Mrs. Boluarte thanked the artists recognized at the ceremony for what they have shared through their performances and creations.
"Thank you for having filled our lives and hearts with joy," she expressed.
Within this context, the dignitary remarked that her experience as Andean woman allows her to feel identified with the music created in this part of the country.
The ceremony took place at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital Lima as part of the celebration marking the World Folklore Day.
