The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo has announced that he will head to the Legislative Palace on Friday to meet with Parliament's recently-elected Chairman Jose Williams Zapata.

"We will visit the Congress of the Republic on Friday. We are going to sit down with the new Congress Chairman to start a new stage in the country's political scene," the Head of State remarked.

Mr. Castillo underscored that at the meeting he will inform the head of Congress of the needs of teaching assistants, whom he received on Wednesday evening at the Government Palace in Lima.

"Let us sit down with Cabinet members at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to talk with teachers. If a bill needs to be prepared, we will propose to do so and work on it," he said.

The top official underlined that if the Peruvian State does not assume responsibility for workers, the latter will struggle to meet their family and professional needs.

"At the end of the month, you look at your pay slip and you realize that the amount of loans and debts is more than what you receive. People opt to (…) to feed their children, that cannot happen," he said.

Moreover, the dignitary affirmed that the Executive Branch has submitted various bills to Congress, which have not been debated and might bring some financial solvency to the population and workers.

He addressed teaching assistants gathered at the Golden Hall and suggested that they meet during the visits he pays to different regions across the country so as to talk and learn about their problems so that the Executive Branch can identify the most appropriate mechanisms to address them.
