The president of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, announced today that Peru in 2025 will prioritize the strengthening of infrastructure to boost two important works: the Chancay port and the new Jorge Chávez International Airport, which will position Peru as the most important commercial and logistics hub in the South Pacific.
In her speech during the ceremony to deliver textile goods and footwear to the Police, she said that Peru is "setting an example of generating a solid infrastructure that guarantees development from here on out."
The head of state also highlighted the importance of continuing to promote the portfolio of mining investment projects, which exceeds 54 billion dollars, since it will not only attract responsible investments but will also guarantee that economic development reaches every part of the country and the poverty gap can be shortened, with water and sewage works or electric power.
She also expressed that in agricultural matters there is an "unavoidable commitment" to the development of emblematic projects such as Chavimochic and Majes Siguas.
"These (irrigation projects) will consolidate our agricultural exports as a pillar of the national economy and will also position Peru as the world's pantry, ensuring food security for all Peruvians, but also to take our agricultural products to the world," said the president.
She also recalled that the Chancay port terminal was recently inaugurated with a large shipment of blueberries to Asia, so she called for taking advantage of this infrastructure to take most of the products abroad, for which the free trade agreements (FTA) will continue to be expanded.
"Each of these actions will have a direct impact on the country's economic growth, projecting higher development rates for 2025, 2026 and the years to come. Peru should not stop after 2026, because Peru has all its capacities to continue growing. It will depend on the new authorities, to continue promoting the development of the country and, within it, the development of Peruvian families," said President Boluarte.
She also said that this effort cannot be solely on the part of the Government and that the unity of all Peruvians is required, in order to consolidate the recovery of the economy and guarantee that it is sustainable over time.
Delivery of goods for Police
At the beginning of her speech, the president highlighted that the delivery of textile goods and footwear to the Ministry of the Interior (Mininter), for distribution to the National Police, is a tangible example of the joint effort between the State and the productive sector, which directly benefits those who watch over our security.
She added that, at the same time, the growth of the Peruvian economy is encouraged from its base, the small entrepreneurs, thereby boosting the family economy.
She detailed that there are more than 943 thousand goods whose total value amounts to more than 109 million soles, such as shirts, blouses, jackets, specialized footwear, among others. She highlighted that these have been made by more than 802 micro and small enterprises (MSMEs) from different regions under the highest quality standards.
The president added that this important effort is part of the national program Compras a MYPErú, which promotes the participation of MSMEs in public purchases by the State through Purchasing Executive Centers, a model that avoids corruption.
"There is no corruption here. Here the purchases are transparent, the work that our MSMEs do is efficient and suitable and the time we set for ourselves to meet these goals, we met it," said President Dina Boluarte.
Finally, she stressed that there is an economic growth forecast of 3.2% for this 2024, which confirms that Peru is on the path to economic recovery, and these figures show that it is possible to work without corruption and with clean hands.
