President Balcazar coordinates preparations for Pope Leo XIV's visit to Peru

The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, held a protocol meeting with the Archbishop of Lima and Primate of Peru, Cardinal Carlos Castillo.

The meeting took place within the framework of preparations for the Head of State's upcoming trip to the Vatican, where he will meet with Pope Leo XIV.

According to the Presidential Office, both authorities discussed various issues related to the top official's upcoming official visit to the Holy See, scheduled for the coming weeks.

They also discussed preparations and coordination efforts related to the Supreme Pontiff's visit to Peru in November this year.

President Balcazar's trip to the Vatican will include an audience with Pope Leo XIV.

The Supreme Pontiff maintains a special bond with Peru due to the pastoral work he carried out in the country for several years before being elected head of the Catholic Church.

As is known, His Holiness was born in the United States but also holds Peruvian nationality.
