Renowned Peruvian film director Francisco Lombardi, 73, has been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, A.frame —the Academy's digital magazine— reported.

He is one of the 398 distinguished artists and executives invited to join the organization in 2023.

"The Academy is proud to welcome these artists and professionals into our membership. They represent extraordinary global talent across cinematic disciplines, and have made a vital impact on the arts and sciences of motion pictures and on movie fans worldwide," said its CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang.

The invitation, which fills Peru with pride, was issued by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, whose objective is to promote the film industry around the world and which for decades has rewarded Hollywood productions.

This organization is best known for the annual presentation of the Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars.

Membership

Membership selection is based on professional qualifications, with an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion, and equity, A.frame indicated.

Such membership is limited to film artists working in the production of theatrically-released motion pictures.

The Academy has 18 branches, for the crafts ranging from Actors to Writers, and the Members-at-Large category, to accommodate individuals who work in motion picture production but do not fit into one of the branches.
