Peruvian agricultural exports reached US$8.134 billion in the January-August 2025 period, 19.6% higher than the same period last year, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) announced today.
During the aforementioned period, traditional agricultural exports totaled US$795 million, 27% higher than the same period in 2024. This was due to higher exports of unroasted, non-decaffeinated coffee (US$742 million) and sugarcane molasses (US$5.7 million), whose sales increased by 34.4% and 25.9%, respectively.
These products account for 94% of traditional agricultural exports.
Regarding non-traditional agricultural exports, these shipments totaled US$7.338 billion, 18.9% higher than the figure for the same period in 2024.
The main products in the agricultural export ranking were: avocados (US$1.242 billion and 16.9% share), fresh grapes (US$704 million and 9.6% share), fresh blueberries (US$647 million and 8.8% share), raw cocoa beans (US$580 million and 7.9% share), and fresh mangoes (US$234 million and 3.2% share).
Also notable are the increased sales of fresh asparagus (US$212 million and a 2.9% share), other citrus fruits (US$207 million and a 2.8% share), frozen mangoes (US$144 million and a 2% share), animal feed (US$139 million and a 1.9% share), and other fresh fruits (US$117 million and a 1.6% share).
These 10 products together represent 57.6% of the non-traditional exportable supply.
The products with the greatest positive contribution in August of this year compared to 2024 were: fresh grapes, which grew 41.3%, frozen mangoes (182%), raw cocoa beans (16.7%), fresh blueberries (12%), avocados (5.7%), cochineal carmine (129.2%), fresh mangoes (26.7%), prepared or preserved hearts of palm (539.6%), and other fruits and nuts (62.7%), among others.
Likewise, during the January-August period of this year, within the basket of non-traditional products, fruit and vegetable exports should be highlighted, with sales reaching $4.133 billion (56.3% of non-traditional agricultural exp4orts), a 17.7% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Main markets
On the other hand, the top ten destination countries for Peruvian agricultural exports were: The United States, the Netherlands, Spain, Chile, Mexico, China, England, Ecuador, Germany, and Canada.
This group of countries accounted for 76.0% of the total export value during the study period.
Similarly, in the January-August 2025 period, the agricultural trade balance recorded a surplus of US$3.548 billion, 34% higher than the amount recorded in the same period last year.
This increase was due to the larger increase in dollar terms in agricultural exports (US$1.333 billion increase compared to 2024).
