Peru's PM: Gov't will intensify dialogue with regions and unions to revive economy

13:21 | Lima, Apr. 4.

Peruvian Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen on Thursday announced that the Executive Branch will intensify dialogue with regional governments across the country, as well as business associations and workers' unions, in order to implement large priority projects to boost the Peruvian economy.

After winning the confidence vote in Parliament, the Cabinet chief underscored that all State ministers will embark on a series of trips throughout the regions in order to work on essential issues related to the government administration.

"The only project that matters is aimed at reviving Peru and providing security to citizens.  The Cabinet is fully focused on each of the commitments that we have assumed before Parliament," he said in an interview with a media outlet.

Investments for development

Adrianzen emphasized that important initiatives are under way, such as the Port of Marcona, whose contract worth US$415 million was awarded a few days ago, as well as the Lima Road Ring, whose contract will be awarded at the cost of US$3.4 billion.

According to the Cabinet chief, the country has a portfolio of only public-private partnerships worth US$8 billion.

"We hope more investment will continue to come. These sectors are linked to others and, in succession, generate economic movement," he stated.

In this regard, the Prime Minister referred to the Chancay Megaport, which will not only be the hub port in the Pacific region, but will also include a police mega-center and other infrastructure projects that will connect it with Lima and Callao.

"We are convinced that Chancay will be inaugurated in November, under the anticipated conditions," he affirmed.
