Peru's PM: First COVID-19 vaccines for elders already delivered nationwide

Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Friday reported that the first batch of vaccines against COVID-19, which is intended for the inoculation of senior citizens, has already been delivered throughout Peruvian territory.

"The first batch of vaccines for older adults has already reached out to all regions," she wrote on Twitter.

Likewise, the Cabinet chief reiterated that the Government continues to advance in the vaccination process.

"Get vaccinated with optimism and hope, without skipping the line," she expressed.

During the present week, President Francisco Sagasti visited various regions to bring doses and expedite the immunization process.

While visiting Cusco, the Head of State affirmed that over 2.982 million Pfizer doses and half a million of AstraZeneca will arrive in Peru this May.

To date, the

Transition and Emergency Government assured that contracts have already been signed for 48 million vaccine doses, which will serve to protect the entire adult population from COVID-19.

The immunization of adults aged 70 to 79 began this morning in Lima and Callao supported by the Pongo el Hombro (I Lend the Shoulder) platform.
