The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Sunday informed that the batch of 276,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses, which arrived in Peru this morning, will be mainly destined for regions to vaccinate people over the age of 80.

"This way, we will receive 1.09 million doses in May, and in total, adding Pfizer (vaccines), which amount to 2.8 million, we will have approximately 3.4 million doses that enable us to move forward and fulfill our commitment to vaccinating all elders before this administration's term in office ends," he said.

President Sagasti also mentioned that the difficulties faced in one or two vaccination centers in Lima and Callao have been corrected and urged elderly people to check the online platform, so they can inform themselves where and when to get immunized.

Lastly, the Head of State thanked all health care personnel and those who cooperate with the vaccination campaign, highlighting that nearly 45,000 elderly people have been vaccinated to date.
