Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola on Tuesday affirmed that the Executive Branch will execute 100% of the budget allocated for preventive measures in the presence of the Global El Niño phenomenon.

Moreover, the Cabinet chief stated that the budget allocated for this purpose amounts to about S/2 billion (around US$541.8 million), adding that it was approved and transferred two months ago.

"More than 20 regulations have been issued, in the case of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, S/225 million (about US$60.9 million) was transferred to the Authority for Reconstruction with Changes on June 16, and now I can say that the entire budget will be executed by the end of this year, and the same will occur with other State-run entities," he remarked.

In this regard, Otarola explained that, in the case of his sector, the budget's implementation will be 44% completed in September, 75% completed in October, and 99% completed in November.

"We will not stop implementing the budget because the inefficiency that existed in the past has cost us a lot of work to renew the technical staff; the budget allocated for Global El Niño will be fully executed within the preventive perspective," he added.
