Peruvian artist Gianmarco Zignago won a Latin Grammy in the Best Singer-songwriter Album category for “Dias Nuevos” at the 12th edition of said event carried out in Las Vegas, United States.

“The Grammy goes home with me! I love you Peru,” he wrote with excitement on his Twitter account after receiving the award.

Backstage, Gianmarco said that “making this project was a huge sacrifice. I want to dedicate this to students in Peru so they can see that with hard work they an accomplish anything."

“This is a long-awaited award; I won one in 2005 and this time it required great sacrifice,” he mentioned very enthusiastically in statements to BBC.

“This award is for my country, which I love,” added Gianmarco after dedicating the Grammy to his son Fabian, who traveled with him, his family and his students at the music school.

The trophy in this category resulted in tie with wins for the Peruvian and Cuban artist Amaury Gutierrez for Sesiones Intimas.
 
Before the ceremony, the artist had already said that being nominated was already a compliment. ”This is the tenth time that I have been nominated to a Grammy and we hope to take it to Peru. Let’s see what happens. To be nominated among many people is a compliment for me”, he told RPP.
