Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi has held bilateral meetings with her counterparts from Spain, Brazil, Chile, Guatemala, Portugal, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Moreover, Gervasi met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, as well as the Ibero-American Secretary General.
The meetings took place within the framework of the Ibero-American Summit in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Both high-ranking officials reaffirmed the will to strengthen the excellent bilateral ties between both nations and to work together for the next Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and European Union (EU).
Likewise, Gervase held a meeting with
Brazilian Foreign Affairs Minister Mauro Vieira, in which both agreed on the importance of deepening the bilateral relationship with a special emphasis on Amazonian issues. At the meeting, the Peruvian government official highlighted the holding of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) scheduled for next August.
Similarly, in Santo Domingo, Gervasi and her
Chilean counterpart Alberto Van Klaveren expressed their willingness to improve the traffic flow in the border area, develop the agreements of the Binational Cabinets, as well as work and discuss jointly immigration and Pacific Alliance issues.
At the meeting with
Guatemala's Foreign Affairs Minister Mario Bucaro, the authorities agreed on the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and promoting cooperation mechanisms such as the one between the diplomatic academies of both countries.
Also, within the framework of the Summit, the Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister held a meeting with her
Portuguese counterpart, João Gomes, in which they discussed European support for the institutional political process in Peru and highlighted the good level of bilateral relations between both nations.
On the other hand, the Peruvian minister reiterated the Government's commitment to advance in said process and reiterated that this is an opportunity to promote reformsin order to optimize the State's public management.
For his part, the senior European official reiterated the support for the constitutional legitimacy of the Peruvian Government.
Finally, during the Summit, Gervasi spoke with the
Ibero-American Secretary General Andres Allamand, to whom she said that Peru finds many similarities with the strategic vision of strengthening the community and shares the criteria of reinforcing the role of the General Secretariat, for a better coordination among its different constituent bodies
