The electoral system requires a budget of S/820 million (US$221 million) for the development of the 2026 General Elections,
Burneo expressed the urgency of allocating funds for the Complementary Municipal Elections and the Recall Referendum, processes that are already underway.
Likewise, he indicated that
the JNE submitted to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) the supporting report on the 2025 electoral budget aimed at the preparatory activities for the general elections.
The requested financial resources cover the requirements of the three electoral system bodies and will ensure the organization of the presidential, congressional, and Andean Parliament elections.
In turn,
Minister Salardi announced that
his technical team has completed the review of the report submitted for the Complementary Municipal Elections and the Recall Referendum.
He added that the budget allocation decree will be issued in the coming days.
Similarly, he expressed his willingness to ensure that the funds for the 2026 General Elections is allocated with the same swiftness.
Both the JNE and the MEF agreed on the need to secure the necessary financial resources for the organization of these electoral processes.
