Over the last 200 years, the Peruvian Army has actively contributed to the national development process in favor of the population, mainly of the most vulnerable,
Peruvian Army's General Commander Jose Vizcarra affirmed on Wednesday.
Vizcarra underlined that the Peruvian Army has participated in different circumstances in the defense of our sovereignty facing serious internal and external threats and, at the same time, has contributed to the national development.
In this sense, he stated that the institution he leads is and will be at the service of the homeland.
At present, the Army is undergoing a process of institutional transformation, while facing one of the greatest challenges affecting the entire world: the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
After taking stock of the milestones that marked the history of the military institution, the Army's general commander addressed the men and women who are currently serving the country at remote barracks, anti-terrorism bases, border surveillance posts, among others.
"Receive a fraternal and affectionate greeting from this old soldier, for your unselfish determination to serve the homeland, which reflects such a commitment and irresistible interest in all military matters, being aware that the greatest reward is the recognition from our people and the satisfaction of having fulfilled (our duty)," Vizcarra expressed.
The military authority also addressed citizens, who are the top priority for the institution.
"Compatriots, keep in mind that you are the priority of our glorious institution. We owe it to you, and we exist because of you," the senior officer added.
