Peru's President takes part in ceremony marking Army's Bicentennial

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday participated in the main ceremony commemorating the Bicentennial of Creation of the Peruvian Army.

The event also featured Congress Chairwoman Maria del Carmen Alva, Prime Minister Guido Bellido, and other authorities.


On August 18, 1821, in conformity with a protectoral decree, General Jose de San Martin established the Peruvian Guard Legion —the first unit of the Army of the Republic of Peru.

The ceremony took place at Lima's Main Square.
