Peru's 2026 Elections: ONPE deploys electoral materials to Tumbes, Piura, and Lambayeque

The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) on Friday deployed a third shipment of voting materials to Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, and Arequipa regions ahead of the presidential runoff election scheduled for June 7. The operation began at 8:00 a.m.

To that end, seven trucks departed from the Electoral Management Office's warehouses in Lima’s Lurin district, carrying electoral materials to the Decentralized Electoral Process Offices (ODPE) in Tumbes, Castilla, Morropon, Piura, Paita, Sullana, Jose Leonardo Ortiz, Chiclayo, Cerro Colorado, Caylloma, and Condesuyos.

Each vehicle is under permanent escort by the Peruvian National Police and monitored via satellite, in addition to having an Electoral Management Office representative on board.

The electoral documentation includes ballot boxes and reserve ballot boxes, packages for polling place coordinators, signs and labels, folded cardboard ballot boxes, and voting booths.

The electoral body is also distributing Braille templates to facilitate voting for people with visual disabilities.

The deployment of the electoral packages was carried out in the presence of National Elections Board (JNE) representatives.

Previously, the electoral materials underwent verification by JNE inspectors.

For the transportation of electoral documentation, ONPE carried out the final assembly process in a timely manner on Thursday, May 28.


Materials for Metropolitan Lima and Callao

In the case of Metropolitan Lima and Callao region, the deployment of electoral materials to polling centers is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 5, starting at 10:00 p.m.

The operation will be carried out through 217 transport units departing from the electoral body's warehouses located at the ONPE headquarters in Lurin.
