Venezuelan nationals gathered outside the Embassy in Lima on Friday to express disagreement with Nicolas Maduro's assumption of the Presidency in their country, following elections considered fraudulent.

At the site, the foreign citizens listened to a message from Venezuela's opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who denounced that she had been detained and then released last Thursday.

From Arequipa Avenue, protesters also expressed their support for Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, whom they regard as the winner of the elections and President of Venezuela.

Earlier, President Dina Boluarte expressed her firm solidarity with the Venezuelan people.

Similarly, the Head of State reaffirmed her commitment, and that of her administration, to collaborate with the international community in order to achieve the prompt return to democracy in that brotherly country, with the transfer of power to Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, the legitimate President of Venezuela.

Likewise, the Government emphasized that it does not recognize him as President.
