The Presidency of the Republic on Monday stressed that the top tourism distinction awarded to the Saqsaywaman National Archaeological Park and the Temple of St. Peter the Apostle in Andahuaylillas—known as the "Sistine Chapel of the Americas"—strengthens Peru's position as a world-class cultural destination.

"Peru continues to shine globally! Saqsaywaman and the 'Sistine Chapel of the Americas' have earned the highest tourism distinction, strengthening Peru's standing as a cultural destination of the highest level," the Presidential Office stated on social media.

"This recognition places both attractions on par with leading tourist icons and reinforces Peru's cultural leadership in the region," the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) highlighted.

The Presidential Office said this distinction strengthens cultural identity while boosting the country's standing as a top-tier tourist destination.

The Saqsaywaman Archaeological Park, located in Cusco, is a benchmark of Inca heritage, while the Andahuaylillas Temple—in the same region—is renowned for its rich ornamentation and frescoes, earning the title “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.”

Thanks to this distinction, Peru continues to strengthen its image as a cultural and tourism destination of excellence, promoting the protection and appreciation of its historical and artistic heritage, Mincetur underscored.
