Peru ratifies Free Trade Agreement with Guatemala

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has ratified the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Republic of Peru and the Republic of Guatemala, which was signed on December 6, 2011, in Guatemala City.

Through Supreme Decree No. 023-2026-RE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Friday, the Government also ratified the Protocol to the Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Peru and the Republic of Guatemala.

The protocol was signed in Lima on April 23, 2025.

The regulation provides that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will publish the full text of the FTA, the Protocol, and the date of their entry into force in the Official Gazette El Peruano, in accordance with Articles 4 and 6 of Law No. 26647.

The supreme decree states that the ratification must be reported to Congress for the corresponding purposes.

The recitals of the legal measure indicate that the domestic ratification of the treaties is in Peru's interests.
