The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, on Monday stressed the transitional government’s commitment, under his leadership, to ensuring free, transparent, and impartial General Elections scheduled for April 12.

During greetings from the diplomatic corps accredited in Peru, the Head of State underscored that the unrestricted defense of democracy stands as a central axis of his administration.

"Our fundamental purpose is to guarantee a democratic, free, transparent, and impartial electoral process, regardless of the cost," he stated.

In his speech, the top official noted that these priorities are complemented by strengthening public security and safeguarding economic stability, pillars he deemed essential to national development.

"The priorities we have set for ourselves include strengthening public security and waging a frontal fight against crime, no matter what it costs," he said before representatives of international organizations and diplomatic missions.

The President emphasized that Peru remains committed to upholding the rule of law and strengthening institutions, conditions he said are essential for public trust and international observation of the electoral process.

In that context, he expressed confidence that the elections will allow for an orderly transition.

"In just a few months, we will hold the General Elections, and I am fully confident that whoever is elected will rise to the challenge, with pride and responsibility, of ensuring our country continues to grow," Jeri said.

Furthermore, the President welcomed the support of the international community and described its engagement as crucial to consolidating a legitimate electoral process.

"The support and cooperation of all of you, friends of Peru, will be key and decisive," he pointed out.

Finally, he reiterated that the government will continue to foster an environment of democratic trust, with strong institutions and an electoral process that guarantees the sovereign will of citizens, for the benefit of a more just, secure, and developed society.
