The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, announced the continuation of the state of emergency in Lima Metropolitan Area and Callao region to combat crime, on the 26th day of this exceptional measure.

"Clearly, the state of emergency will continue," Jeri stated during his visit to Callao, where he oversaw the implementation of a temporary command post on Saenz Peña Avenue, near Callao’s Central Market.

The top official said that the state of emergency has been producing optimal results. He noted that the negative figures recorded at the beginning of his administration are being reversed.

"When we looked at the figures, we found them trending upwards. The growth of delinquency and crime has been controlled. It has been controlled. Now, the next step is to reduce it," he indicated.

Likewise, the President highlighted that the various State-run institutions involved in citizen security are working in unity.

The Head of State noted that, although acting in harmony is not easy, those entities will work to consolidate truly coordinated efforts.

During his visit to the command post, he oversaw patrol operations in the port region.

He also inspected the video surveillance and radio communication system interconnected between the Peruvian National Police (PNP) and Serenazgo (municipal security forces).

"This temporary coordination post aims to function as a command center that integrates the efforts of all law enforcement forces and provides peace of mind to the population," the President emphasized.

"Even more so now, as we approach the year-end holidays, Peruvians deserve to live with greater security, not only here but across the country," he concluded.
