Within this framework, 2,786 citizens are hospitalized at health centers belonging to the Ministry of Health, EsSalud, National Peruvian Police, Armed Forces, and at private clinics.
Of the hospitalized patients, 467 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU) with mechanical ventilation.
Other 7,422 people completed their home isolation period or were discharged from health facilities.
Moreover, the death toll stands at 572.
"That is a hard number, it hurts, we express condolences to the relatives, but it allows us to see that the mortality rate is 2.74%. Of the total number of cases identified as positive, 2.74% (of infected citizens) have died, despite the efforts made," he said.
The Head of State specified that this percentage is lower compared to figures registered in the rest of the world, where the rates are higher.
"It shows that we put all our efforts into this in spite of the hard situation. The curve continues to rise, we have not reached the summit yet," he indicated.
The top official also reaffirmed that the virus is a silent enemy and that asymptomatic cases make it more dangerous.
Thursday marks the thirty-ninth day of mandatory social isolation.
