on Friday signed the supreme decrees for the State-run company Petroleos del Peru (Petroperu) to assume the temporary management of Lots I and VI, located in Talara, northern Piura region.
"This temporary management, brothers and sisters, is carried out in strict compliance with the law and will be valid for 24 months, a (period of) time during which we will work on the implementation of a tender that will call for the best bidders in the world of hydrocarbons," she added.
The Head of State emphasized that one of her administration's objectives is to obtain the best conditions for the exploitation and protection of natural resources, so that both operators and the population can benefit, under a new approach of promoting private investment and greater social responsibility.
"This way, we will advance in the effective fight against poverty, expanding opportunities for everyone, developing more and better (public) works in (terms of) education, health, and basic services," she specified.
The top official indicated that work is also being done to reactivate oil fields in the jungle, seeking to draw greater investment without generating conflicts while protecting the environment.
"This is the beginning of a historic path that will seek an orderly transition towards new concessionaires, a strengthened State-run company, and social actors clearly benefiting from the investment," Mrs. Boluarte stated.
"The strategic wealth that is in the bowels of our country must serve to generate more water and drainage (services), hospitals, roads, and internet (connectivity) for our children; that means, it must enhance the present and the future of all Peruvians," she noted.
On this occasion, President Boluarte was accompanied by Ministers Oscar Vera (Energy and Mines); Hania Perez de Cuellar (Housing, Construction, and Sanitation), Raul Perez-Reyes (Transportation and Communications), Jennifer Contreras (Agrarian Development and Irrigation), Piura Region Governor Luis Neyra, and Talara Province Mayor Sigifredo Zarate.
