on Tuesday participated in the signing of the land transfer commitment for the construction of the new Soritor Healthcare Center in Moyobamba province, San Martin region.
During his speech, the top official reaffirmed that health and education are priorities of his administration, which is why projects involving the construction of hospitals and healthcare facilities have been unblocked for the benefit of the population.
"Joined by my Council of Ministers, we have set our priorities: health and education, hand in hand. Thanks to that prioritization, we have unblocked projects that had remained incomplete for years," Balcazar expressed.
He highlighted that the construction, expansion, and upgrading of hospitals and health centers nationwide will also help advance mass immunization programs, particularly those aimed at children.
In this regard, the Head of State highlighted the work of Health Minister Juan Velasco in securing and distributing vaccines to healthcare centers across the country.
"Therefore, we are pleased with the progress made in the healthcare sector because, when our term in office ends on July 28, we will leave many hospitals and healthcare facilities whose construction had been left unfinished," he emphasized.
The President highlighted the efforts of the Soritor Municipal Government in signing the agreement for the transfer of the land where the health center—expected to benefit over 200,000 residents—will be built.
The project will require an investment worth over S/53 million (above US$15.69 million).
It will feature 174 biomedical devices, 263 complementary pieces of equipment, 80 electromedical devices, 142 medical instruments, 428 computer units, clinical furniture, an ambulance, and, of course, healthcare professionals.
