Peru: President Balcazar assesses Ica earthquake at Council of Ministers session

The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, led a Council of Ministers session during which authorities assessed the impact caused by the recent 6.1-magnitude earthquake in Ica region, with the aim of addressing the emergencies reported in this part of the country.

This information was disclosed by the Presidential Office on X. 

"Immediate action for the country's development! Following the earthquake registered in Ica, the President of the Republic of Peru, Jose Maria Balcazar, led a new Council of Ministers session today to assess the impact in the area and coordinate priority response efforts," the post said.

During this event, the Cabinet also approved the Multisectoral Strategic Plan implementing the National Multisectoral Security and National Defense Policy through 2030.

Likewise, the Executive Branch agreed to extend the state of emergency in districts of Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Junin, and Cusco regions to maintain internal order.

Additionally, as part of a firm offensive against impunity and crime, the Cabinet approved a series of active and passive extraditions so that individuals facing serious criminal charges may answer before the law.

These measures demonstrate a government that addresses emergencies and strengthens the principle of authority throughout the country, among other issues of national interest.
