Prime Minister Anibal Torres on Thursday called on citizens to work in unity while respecting their differences.

Similarly, the Cabinet chief thanked Congress for not having approved a censure motion presented against Interior Minister Willy Huerta.

On September 23, during a plenary session, legislators did not reach the number of votes required to censure Huerta.

"I have to thank Congress because it has put an end to removing Interior Minister (Willy Huerta), a person who has been working intensely to combat the enormous citizen insecurity that exists in the country," he expressed.

During his speech at Coronel Portillo Municipality auditorium, he stated that citizenry must work together, including governors and governed citizens, "as a single unit and within our normal differences."

"It is normal that there are differences due to political reasons, but when Peru's flag is involved, that must be the flag of all Peruvians; we must all stand united to constitute that unity and get the country out of the current situation," he said.

Similarly, the high-ranking official specified that the Government does not discriminate against anyone. Instead, he said, it considers everyone as equal. In this sense, Torres noted it welcomes both the country's top businesspeople and modest citizens to the Government Palace in Lima.

Budget

Moreover, the Cabinet chief stated that the Ministry of Economy and Finance had reported that the Coronel Portillo Municipality relies on a modified institutional budget of S/185 million (about US$46.87 million). The progress made in this implementation stands at 60.7%.

Torres urged local authorities to execute public spending, saying that economic growth is generated and the country becomes developed thanks to this promotion.

"It is necessary that all authorities who have spending capacity work 24 hours a day to execute their budget," he added.

The Prime Minister participated in this meeting with Ucayali region authorities joined by a delegation of Ministers: Alessandra Herrera (Energy-Mines), Jenny Ocampo (Agrarian Development-Irrigation), and Richard Tineo (Transportation-Communications). Congressmen from various parties were also present at the event.
