Peru: Govt evaluates compliance with total immobilization to face COVID-19

The Government of Peru on Thursday evaluated the level of compliance by the population with the measure of mandatory social isolation against the coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as the assessment of the pandemic in the country.

Therefore,

COVID-19 Operations Command Chief Pilar Mazzetti —joined by Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Jorge Montenegro— visited the northern Lambayeque region to assess the implementation of the strategy against the disease and set up the corresponding Regional Operations Task Group.

Also on Thursday, the meeting of the High-Level Multisectoral Commission against Coronavirus (COVID-19) was held. It saw the presence of Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos and other cabinet members.

Likewise, technical teams from different sectors are working to adopt new actions to protect the health and integrity of the population.

Furthermore, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Andean Community expressed their commitment to joining all efforts necessary to counter the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in their territories. This community is made up of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the Republic of Colombia, the Republic of Ecuador, and the Republic of Peru.

As is known,

total social immobilization is in force on Holy Thursday and Good Friday in order to prevent COVID-19 contagions from increasing in the South American country.
