The COVID-19 Operations Command —led by Dr. Pilar Mazzetti— on Thursday visited Peru's northern Lambayeque region to supervise the implementation of the plan against the coronavirus pandemic, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) has reported.

Dr. Mazzetti arrived in the city of Chiclayo this morning joined by Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Jorge Montenegro. The command evaluated the execution of the strategy against the coronavirus and set up the Regional Operations Task Group.

Likewise, the COVID-19 Command met with Lambayeque authorities to make sure that the plan in this region is also executed and thus controls the pandemic since —as she emphasized— the disease does not wait, and there is only time to act.

"It is interesting to see how many authorities and Congress members from this region are joining efforts. We all have to work together because we have 15 very difficult days ahead of us (…)," she expressed.

Dr. Mazzetti stressed that —given the first measures taken by the Government— the health system was able to save time and —thanks to the latest provisions— it was possible to acquire assisted ventilation products, which is allowing the equipment to be distributed to different parts of the country.

In this sense, she called on citizens to maintain the isolation and comply with the measures adopted by the Government, so that the curve becomes increasingly flat.

Visit to Arequipa

Yesterday, Pilar Mazzetti detailed the actions carried out by the COVID-19 Operations Command in the southern city of Arequipa.

After meeting with Arequipa Region Government officials, the Regional Operations Task Group was installed, with the aim of facing the epidemic in the White City.
