Peruvian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Jaime Pomareda held a meeting with Swiss State Secretary at the Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch in Switzerland's capital city on Thursday.

Likewise, they talked about the mutual interest in increasing bilateral trade, which amounted to some US$2 billion in 2018, within the framework of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), of which Switzerland is member.

In this sense, the deputy minister expressed his interest in boosting a greater diversification of Peruvian exports to this market, underlining the potential the South American nation offers to Swiss investments

Moreover, he mentioned Peru's aspiration to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as well as thanked the economic cooperation offered by Switzerland, so the Inca country can reach the OECD's standards.

The diplomat also pointed out Peru's commitment to the Swiss Better Gold Association and to approving a National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights.

Finally, both parties reviewed the positive progress made in the negotiation of agreements that will contribute to the increase of trade and tourism influx.
