affirmed Switzerland not only seeks to cooperate with Peru, but also to increase their trade and investment relations.
In this sense, she indicated the Inca country currently shows a good performance, and its macroeconomic figures are proof of that.
According to the official, her nation —and its companies— consider important that Peru has remained an open economy for 18 years, claiming "this is a good sign for investments and international markets."
Likewise, Ineichen-Fleisch stated trade between the two countries is mainly made up of commodities, and some processed
agricultural products.
"I think it can be improved. Moreover, I know the Peruvian Government seeks greater economic diversification and more industrialization," she expressed.
The
SECO representative went on to add exports and imports between Peru and Switzerland have increased significantly since the
Free Trade Agreement came into force.
Furthermore, she mentioned the European nation is interested in many Peruvian economic sectors, especially in public communications infrastructure development.
Besides, opportunities exist in water and sanitation, as well as energy projects.
"I think we could diversify more our presence in Peru. I am sure we can increase investment and
bilateral trade (...)," Ineichen-Fleisch concluded.
It should be noted the Swiss State Secretary has renewed Switzerland's commitment to supporting competitiveness and economic development in the Inca nation.
