Prime Minister Anibal Torres on Wednesday confirmed that the Ministerial Cabinet will take part in a Congress plenary session on March 8 to present the Government's general policy and request a vote of confidence from lawmakers.
In addition, the Cabinet chief mentioned that the round of talks with different parliamentary groups —prior to the Cabinet's presentation before Parliament— have already started, noting that he expects to meet with all of them (the groups).
"If any of the groups chooses not to talk to us, even though I think this is not the case, but if it were, then we have to respect the decision; we will not put pressure on it or criticize it," he commented.
Regarding the confidence motion, Torres underscored that the Congress of the Republic is empowered to decide if the institution grants it or not, "and that this is regulated by the Constitution, so it has to be respected."
On the other hand, the high-ranking official offered an apology to legislators for his statements against them and called for an end to misunderstandings between the Legislative and Executive Branches.
"The intention is to reach consensus to guide our country towards the well-being of all Peruvians," he added.
