Peru and Ecuador can give an example to the world on how to face the world financial crisis linking and integrating its economies and societies, Peru’s president Alan García said today at the time of opening, together with Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa, the Second Binational Ministerial Meeting.
He said that integration is an important factor to face this situation that affects world economies.
“Before the financial crisis, an important resource is the integration and we can give an example to the world of how facing the crisis joining our economies, multiplying our trade, speeding up our customs, improving the flow of credits to our peoples and strengthening the border region”, he added.
García also said that Peru and Ecuador will stress on making up for the lost time regarding the execution of border commitments stated on the Peace Agreement.
“The peace funds were more theory than reality and when (countries that compromised to give them) see us working actively, they will begin to contribute for works and specific objectives”, he noted.
The Peruvian president indicated that both countries are working in the construction of three binational bridges, highways, among other works; and he added that Peru’s investment in the border zone would reach about 1.5 billion dollars investment.
