is expected to travel to the United States to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, to be held from September 21 to 25.
The Cabinet member indicated that the session consists of various plenary meetings in which the heads of state and government of member countries participate.
The minister added that, in addition to the UN General Assembly, a series of important events will be held to present Peru's position on issues such as security and to attract foreign investment.
"There will also be an event related to the Santiago Declaration and the Santiago Group, which is also concerned about security issues at the regional level. So, we hope that President Fujimori's trip will be as auspicious as possible for Peru," Espa told the press.
Moreover, the minister expressed confidence that Congress will vote in favor of the delegation of powers requested by the Executive Branch, which—he said—will help "take a step forward in the fight against crime."
The government official made these remarks following the presentation of Peru's candidacy for re-election to the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for the 2028–2029 term.
The event was held at the Foreign Affairs Ministry's headquarters in Lima on Thursday evening.
