Peruvian soccer players Claudio Pizarro and Juan Manuel Vargas, who enjoy success in Germany and Italy, respectively, are included in the annual world's most popular footballers list prepared by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

Thanks to the good performance of Pizarro at Werder Bremen and Vargas -who has become one of Fiorentina's key players- IFFHS has considered them among the most popular players in the world.

Claudio Pizarro, Werder Bremen's Peruvian goal-getter, is one of the best goal scorers at Bundesliga's present season, and is about to reach Brasilian Giovanne Elber's record (133) as the all-time top scorer in German soccer history.

Meanwhile, Vargas is tracked by top European clubs such as Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

Each year, the best footballer in the world (FIFA Player) is elected by national trainers and national team captains.

The IFFHS has drawn up the following list of 115 currently active players from 68 countries in all six football continents from which users can cast their vote for the best-known footballer in the world.

The result of the poll will be announced in January 2010, the intermediate results on November 3rd and on November 30th, 2009. Votes may be sent until January 2rd 2010.
