The very Peruvian pollo a la brasa, rotisserie chicken, has been a success in China since the opening of the first Peruvian "pollería" Brasa Chicken in Shanghai last year.
Brasa Chicken owners Eduardo and Marco Vargas will now open a second restaurant on March 20 and a third one a week later in the tourist area of The Bund and the financial district of Pudong.
Unlike Brasa Chicken, which basically offers a delivery service, the Vargas brothers' new project is about a modern, fancy restaurant located in a very active financial and business area of the city.
“Our first restaurant was an experiment to see if it worked; but now it is clear that Peruvian rotisserie chicken has already proved a success in China,” said Eduardo Vargas as quoted by elcomercio.pe.
His brother Marco, co-founder of Brasa Chicken, pointed out that their second restaurant, located at a mall, is large and boasts a family-friendly atmosphere.
Jane Hu, a Shanghainese who works in the city's financial district, said that the first time she ordered rotisserie chicken to the office, "the chicken smelt so good and looked so delicious that my colleagues wanted to know where I had bought it.”
Critics in Shanghai magazines say the dish has caused great impact because it offers good quality, good price and delivery service. The Peruvian businessman now recognizes that his customers are the community of foreigners and young Chinese.
Brasa Chicken is dedicated to providing freshly prepared Peruvian style rotisserie chicken and delicious sides and salads to Shanghai's locals and expatriates alike.
