BCR: Peru's 12-month inflation expectations at 2.45% in Dec 2024

According to the Central Reserve Bank's Macroeconomic Expectations Survey, the 12-month inflation expectations of economic analysts and the financial system remained at 2.45% in December 2024, within the inflation target range.

The inflation expectations of economic agents remained within the target range for the projection horizons surveyed (2025 and 2026).

The expected inflation for 2025 decreased to a range between 2.40% and 2.50%. For 2026, this stands between 2.40% and 2.65%.

In December, GDP growth expectations for 2024 among the groups surveyed (economic analysts, the financial system, and non-financial businesses) ranged between 3.0% and 3.1%.

For 2025 and 2026, growth is expected to be between 2.9% and 3.0%.

Exchange Rate

On the other hand, exchange rate expectations are at S/3.80 per U.S. dollar for the end of 2025.

By the end of 2026, the exchange rate is expected to be between S/3.80 and S/3.85 per U.S. dollar.

Expectations

In December, 13 out of a total of 18 current (economic) situation and business expectation indicators were in the optimistic range.
