"We are the world's leading exporter of blueberries and grapes, as well as second largest exporter of avocados and asparagus," he added.

Last weekend, the Peruvian high-ranking official and a delegation of APEC ministers visited the Chavimochic Project, which includes Chao, Viru, and Moche Valleys in La Libertad region, northern Peru.
"I was telling them about what is happening with Chavimochic with stages 1 and 2, which cover 25,000 hectares. Imagine what La Libertad region will be like with Chavimochic 3, a project set to begin construction next year and covering 63,000 hectares, in other words, 2.5 times the current area," Manero pointed out.
"It will not only be La Libertad but also Piura with Alto Piura Project, Ancash with Chinecas, and Arequipa with Majes Sihuas," he added.
Moreover, the Cabinet member reiterated that Peru's Government is working on a project to recover 120,000 hectares of terraces.
According to the government official, "this will be important because it will put into value all the infrastructure left to us by the Incas and pre-Incas to directly benefit farming communities and small producers."
"We will have around US$1 billion in small irrigation projects for small producers. Not much is known about that, but we will be allocating that amount from this year until 2026," he concluded.
