Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Pareja on Monday urged Peruvians residing abroad to participate in the presidential runoff election scheduled for Sunday, June 7.

Likewise, the government official called on polling station members to fulfill their duties to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process.

"I call on our voters abroad to cast their ballots, and on polling station members to arrive on time so that polling stations can be set up and voters can begin voting early in the day. That way, everything will conclude in an orderly manner and at the scheduled time, without any setbacks," Pareja emphasized.

After participating in the ratification of the Peru–Guatemala Free Trade Agreement, the minister reported that 99.75% of the electoral materials intended for Peruvians who will vote abroad have already been distributed.

"We expect the distribution to reach 100% by today or tomorrow and for everything to proceed on schedule," he added.

The Cabinet member further explained that, once this stage is completed, the electoral materials will be transported to the respective polling places between Friday and Saturday, ahead of Election Day.

As previously reported, 218 polling places have been set up abroad for the presidential runoff election, seven more than those established for the first round.

At the event, Minister Pareja also noted that there is an invitation from Pope Leo XIV for President Jose Maria Balcazar to visit the Vatican. However, he specified that the agenda will be evaluated at a later date.

"We are awaiting June 7 for the electoral process to take place. Throughout this week, we want attention to remain focused on issues such as the electoral process," he concluded.
