Peruvian pisco shines at gastronomic fair in China

00:22 | Beijing (China), Jul. 25.

Peru's pisco liquor delighted more Chinese citizens on the second day of Peruvian Gastronomic Festival aimed at promoting the consumption of Inca flagship products in the Asian Giant.

Several entrepreneurs and journalists, as well as representatives of exclusive restaurants, bars, and hotels based in Beijing, attended the event "Pisco, quality means taste," organized by the Peruvian Embassy in China and Peru's Trade Office in Beijing (OCEX Beijing).

In this regard, China Radio International (CRI) journalist Jimena Li commented that drinking pisco is a pleasant, smooth, and healthy sensation.

"This pisco has a fruity aroma that can captivate anyone who tries it, and that is why I think it may be very successful here in China," she told Andina news agency.

At the fair, Peruvian Ambassador to China Luis Quesada taught attendees how to prepare Pisco Sour and invited them to consume the national beverage in its different presentations.

Taste and quality

Likewise, OCEX Beijing Commercial Counsellor Diana Pita pointed out these events seek to position pisco in an exclusive and demanding market, which is a benchmark in Beijing's gastronomic scene.

"Our target audience is composed of owners of bars, hotels, and restaurants, as well as potential pisco importers in Beijing and northern China (…)," she explained.

For his part, Chinese-Peruvian Chamber of Commerce representative Santiago Siu remarked pisco has come to stay in the Asian Giant since more and more locals —who try it— are more interested in consuming the said product in its various presentations.

It must be noted the event also features a presentation on the origins and characteristics of the aforementioned spirit.

Visitors also tasted diverse cocktails such as Pisco Sour and Passion Fruit Sour.

The Peruvian Gastronomy Festival takes place in Beijing (July 23-29) and in Chengdu (August 3-8).
