Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Saturday affirmed that the Transition and Emergency Government remained completely neutral during the general elections process which took place this year, thus ruling out any kind of favoritism to any of the candidates.

As is known, writer Mario Vargas Llosa recently said that the current administration "had sided with one" of the candidates during the presidential runoff election.

"All opinions are respectable. However, it seems to me that he (Mario Vargas Llosa) is a bit uninformed. As the population and media outlets know, the Transition and Emergency Government has remained completely neutral, respecting the neutrality principle during the elections," the high-ranking official emphasized.

In this sense, the Cabinet chief stated that the current administration had not established any type of contact with the candidates.

Likewise, Bermudez explained that —due to the delay to announce the final results— the administration launched the transfer process, as established by the Comptroller General's Office.

Today's remarks were made during the inauguration of the Vaccinathon against COVID-19.
