Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez has affirmed that the Transition and Emergency Government is preparing to ensure an orderly transfer of power so that the new administration's inauguration can be successful.

"At the Council (of Ministers), it was reported that all sectors are working hard to ensure an orderly and transparent transition of power that facilitates a successful inauguration of the new Government —for the good of the country— and to guarantee the continuity of services to people," she stated.

According to the high-ranking official, in addition to the administrative transition, the Council's members agreed to include a set of lessons learned to share with the new administration.

"During these eight months, the Government has been able to implement some adjustments and reforms to the Executive Branch; in various areas of our responsibility, we managed to introduce some methodologies that can be very useful in the management of COVID-19 and the vaccination process," she remarked.

In addition, the Government's spokesperson indicated that as soon as the National Elections Board (JNE) proclaims the person who will assume the Presidency of the Republic on July 28, the current administration will hold meetings with the corresponding teams.

On the other hand, the Prime Minister noted that on Tuesday the Council of State issued a statement expressing respect for electoral bodies and rejection of any type of pressure or smear campaign against their authorities.

"Throughout this process, we have also ensured strict respect for the principle of neutrality, and we will continue to do so, as befits every public servant and entity," she pointed out.
